Football’s first gay star Robbie Rogers appears on the cover of Attitude for the month of April.
The LA Galaxy player came out in February 2013 and speaks candidly in his 14-page cover feature about his struggle to get to grips with his sexuality in a predominantly heterosexual environment.
On being a closeted gay footballer, 26-year-old Rogers says: “Definitely in my career there were so many times when I struggled with my mental health. That affected the way I played.”
Later in the interview, he admits: “25 years of self-hate doesn’t go away just because you come out.”
The full interview, plus eight pictures of Robbie Rogers, appears in the latest Attitude, The Style Issue, which is available to download for your iPad or tablet now.
The print magazine will be available to pick up in shops from next Wednesday (March 5) – including, once again, at WHSmiths.
